Wake –up little shepherd. Didn’t you hear?
Though dark night still surrounds us,
a new day has appeared.
Go quickly to Bethlehem, find the stable where
a baby sleeps peacefully,
Joseph and Mary watching him carefully.
I’ll tell you a secret I’ve not told another.
The baby’s named “Jesus,”
your very brother.
A shepherd like you, He will guide his sheep,
through the dark valleys,
over mountains steep,
‘til he brings them safe home,
like bees swarming
back to their comb.
O little shepherd, It’s Christmas Day!
The world is made new by a baby,
a shepherd, asleep on the hay.
